Tire Sidewall Marking Descriptions

INCH UP

Plus Zero

utilizes the same wheel diameter as the OE tyre but combines it with a tyre which has a larger section width and a smaller aspect ratio than the OE tyre. For example, replacing an OE 225/50R17 tire with a 235/45R17 tire would be a proper Plus Zero fitment. Note that this may require a replacement wheel to maintain proper rim width for the new tire.

Plus One

utilizes a one-inch larger diameter wheel in comination with the tyre which has a one-step lower aspect ratio than the OE tyre. For example, Plus One fitment is to replace an OE 225/50R17 tire with a 235/45R18 tire. Note that this method always requires a replacement wheel.

Plus Two

utilizes a two-inch larger diameter wheel in combination with the tyre which has a two-step lower aspect ratio than the OE tyre. Plus Two fitment is to replace an OE 225/50R17 tire with a 255/35R19 tire.

Choosing a tire and replacement

Follow the original vehicle manufacturer OE rim specifications and discuss with a professional tire shop before replacing tire. The replacement tire must be identical specifications.
Do not mix different models, structures, or sizes of tires.
Tires are marked with a direction on the sidewall and are to be installed in that direction.

Correct use and daily inspection

Tire Pressure

Measure the tire pressure when the tire is under static and inflate to originally specified pressure.

Treadwear Indicator

Minimum tread depth is limited to 1.6mm.
There are ▲on the circumference of tire shoulder to specify where treadwear indicators are located.

Caution
  1. Check the tire surface for cracks, pins, metal scraps, glass or anything that may puncture the tire. .Also, check for pebbles stuck in the grooves. If any of the above situations occur, please go to a professional tire shop for repair.Do not use a tire with damage through which the underlying fabric or steel belt is visible, to prevent accidents.

  2. Mounting a directional pattern tire should be awared the tread diretion.

  3. The tires should be rotated according to specifications.

  4. If the tire crown is abnormally worn (damage), please go to a professional tire shop for replacement.

  5. Avoid direct sunlight, rain, oil, and electric sparks in tire storage locations.

  6. The tire is made of rubber and will deteriorate after a long period of use, and should be periodically inspected. Nankang doesn’t guaranty tire whichever five years off from manufactured date the tires should be inspected regularly by the shop; tire over 5 year-old must be replaced.

Important Precautions for Drivers

  1. Avoid grinding the sidewall against the curb and running over bumpy surfaces to limit damage to the tires.

  2. Avoid sharp cornering, quick stops, and rapid acceleration to prevent accidents from happening.

  3. Keep a safe driving distance and obey the speed limit.

  4. When you feel vibration from the vehicle or steering wheel, inspect the tires or return them to a tire shop for a checkup.
